New guideline for the funding of intermodal terminals came into force

After the EU Commission had already approved the “Directive on the funding of Intermodal terminals of non-federal owned companies” in October 2022, it has now come into force on December 03, 2022. The directive serves the overall goal of shifting freight transport from road to the more environmentally friendly modes of rail and waterway.

With the new directive, for the first time, the funding of the replacement of intermodal terminals and parts of intermodal terminals is possible, but still is also the construction and expansion of intermodal terminals. The topic of digitization will also be focused on in the future, so that automation and digitalization measures are eligible for funding. The maximum funding rate of 80% remains unchanged.

As KombiConsult, we were already able to contribute to the evaluation of the previous guidelines and made recommendations for the new guideline. Many of these recommendations were taken into account during the development and KombiConsult is confident that it has set the course for further successful shift of traffic from road to rail or inland waterway.

KombiConsult, itself successfully active in applying for subsidies as a service provider for various clients from the transport sector, will of course also be happy to provide you with further information for specific terminal projects.
